CEH : Achievement Unlocked

Image
Hello World,  So very recently I've accomplished a goal of mine, I'm officially a Certified Ethical Hacker. What that means is I studied and now have the academic knowledge to be a Pen Tester / Entry level Information Security Analyst. I am excited and frustrated at the same time, here is why. I'm excited because I've accomplished this task which I've been wanting to do for a while now (a little over a year), and it does give me a boost in my confidence, I won't lie about that. I'm frustrated because I keep running into a couple of things at this point when trying to get into this field. Thing #1: Most of the jobs that are posted require Top Secret clearance, which I don't have. Thing #2: The rare "entry level" positions that I do find that don't require a clearance are either far from where I live, or ask for 2 years experience.  Its at this point when I start worried a little, because I've run into this situation before. A decade ...

The Sudan Spring : A Call to Action

Hello World,  I wanted to talk to you about something today that is near and dear to my heart. First of, do you remember something called "The Arab Spring", back in 2011? You know when countries in North Africa started a revolution against their dictators, and many of them were talked about (some still bask in that glory today), well in 2012 a revolt happened in Sudan (and is still happening today), but no one brought any attention to it. What does this have to do with technology? Everything.  You see the people who were (are) revolting, are the bright young women and men. So what they started doing is report on their own revolt. They would take their cell phones to these peaceful protests and stream them to YouTube. At one point I was in contact with someone there who sent me daily text message of images and reports from there, and I would post them on the Sudan Speaks blog. Then the contact wanted to update it directly from there, then they stopped updating. ...

Hello World .. again

I'm so excited to be reviving this blog of mine once more. I have written in it for quite some time *cough* 2013 *cough*, but that will change. I'm excited to be starting some new things, and want to document my journey will of you. I can't wait. -ash

So many tablets, So little time

Needless to say that Tables are slowly taking over, there are so many choices and flavors out there, that you can lose your way easily. The best way to determine with tablet is for YOU is know exactly what YOU want. Some people want a tablet to watch movies on, some want a tablet to replace their netbook. Features  Narrowing down what you want well help you immensely. Lets take me for example, I'm a Geek Musician, and I'm constantly thinking of ideas and projects that I can do with my music. I also like to organize these thoughts so that I can find them easily in the future, and being part of several musical project I like to share these ideas with my fellow project mates as soon as possible. And I love to write and draw, using my hand. Those are the functions I NEED in a tablet. Don't really care if the back camera has an led flash, or if video isn't IMAX quality. Software / Hardware  Now that I know what I want as far as features, I need to determine what kind...

windows 7, cheating Robots, & Spider-woman?

As an XP fan, and someone who hasn't played too much with Vista, I have been very 50/50 about changing ANY of my machines to any other operating system. I just read an article on Wired about 7 good things about Windows 7 , and I must say it's winning me over. I will most definatly still have my old laptop running good old XP, but I'm willing to try out Win7, I especially love the fact that they have XP Mode, and Wifi media streaming out of the box. Awesome. Apparently Robots can cheat now =) Marvel is now doing Motion Comics: Spider-Woman

Google OS!

This is pretty exciting, I'm not surprised really, when Google started testing out the Android OS for smartphones, I kind of thought that it would lead to this. But what I didn't see is "the way" the Operating System would, well operate =) According to an awesome article on Wired Magazine, the "OS will be for the web and browser-based. It hopes to convince developers to write software that runs inside a browser, instead of on top of the OS as developers for Windows and Apples’ OS X do. It will also let web developers extend the power of their websites by expanding the capabilities of the browser, allowing websites to lean on the browser for storage and processing help." That's pretty cool =) Here is the full article if your intrested: Google vs Microsoft enjoy! =)

Its year of the PSP

You read right, PSP news has been down low for a while, even since news/rumors about a thinner PSP and all that jazz. But great news my fellow PSP-ers =), there are some great games coming out this fall for the PSP including titles such as "Assassin's Creed" & "Little Big Planet". I'm very sycked about this, I'm usually never home so I don't have one of the big 3 at my home, but I do own a PSP, and get super excited when ever they make awesome games for it. For more info check out the Destination Playstation site.
